Schirra Hayes has been a Senior Program Manager at Virginia LISC or 3 years. His work includes managing all of Virginia LISC’s lending programs, loan funds, loan underwriting, and grant contract management. Within LISC, Schirra also works with advocacy and policy around affordable housing and is on several National LISC committees for small business lending and economic development strategies.
Schirra joined the Virginia LISC team with over 20 years of for-profit and nonprofit organization work experience. He brings practices in single family, multifamily, and commercial real estate development, construction, and finance. His experience ranges from housing counseling & single family development to affordable multifamily housing utilizing specialized financing. Prior to becoming a Senior Program Manager for Virginia LISC, he managed real estate development projects & and conducted university leasing administration for the Virginia Commonwealth University Real Estate Foundation. Prior to his tenure with VCU, he owned his own general contracting and home building business which ranged from commercial and government projects to single-family new home construction. He has held positions with two regional affordable housing developers as a Real Estate Development Officer.
Schirra has a Bachelor of Science in Real Estate and Urban Land Development from VCU, an Associates Degree in Business Management from J. Sargent Reynolds College. He also holds a Virginia Real Estate Broker’s License and is a Board Member of the Maggie Walker Community Land Trust.
